James A. Cancilleri, DPM, FACFAS, DABPM, FAPWCA, is a board-certified foot surgeon at Brandywine Foot and Ankle Associates in Coatesville, Limerick, and Exton, Pennsylvania. Dr. Cancilleri offers a broad array of experience in both surgical and medical care of lower extremity chronic and acute problems.
A native of South Jersey, Dr. Cancilleri began his professional career as a track and field coach along with extensive experience in competitive swimming. His passion for the science of sport led to a career in podiatric medicine and surgery. He is a graduate of Rowan University and earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He then completed a podiatric surgical residency in Philadelphia.
Dr. Cancilleri entered private practice and was the President of The Centre for Foot & Ankle Care near Ocean City, New Jersey, for 16 years. He was extensively involved in lower extremity wound care at AtlantiCare Hospital and Medical System of Atlantic City, and later at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. His reputation and experience in foot and ankle sports medicine gained him the opportunity to join the foot and ankle team at the prestigious Rothman Institute Orthopedics of Philadelphia.
He gained recognition by his peers, as he was selected as a Top Doc in the popular South Jersey Magazine. As his career expanded, Dr. Cancilleri was a member of the Greater Hartford Orthopedic Group in Hartford, Connecticut with surgical privileges at Saint Francis Hospital. He was chosen as the first podiatrist to serve on the Workman’s Compensation Medical Board for the state of Connecticut.
Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, Dr. Cancilleri served at the large Cherokee Nation Healthcare System and Hospital near Tulsa, Oklahoma, from 2018-2019. In addition to treating Native Americans in Eastern Oklahoma, he was involved with medical and surgical training of United States Army Special Forces medics.
Dr. Cancilleri is double board-certified. He is certified in foot surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics & Medicine. Uniquely, he further earned distinction as “Physician Certified in Wound Care.” He is certified in hyperbaric oxygen wound care therapy.
Dr. Cancilleri enjoys surgical privileges at Brandywine Hospital, Phoenixville Hospital, and Pottstown Hospital of Tower Health.
